Spring 2025 will bring an extraordinary public art event to the streets of London, as more than 100 giant hand-decorated eggs will be hidden across the capital for a city-wide treasure trail. The Big Egg Hunt 2025 promises to turn iconic landmarks into part of a whimsical urban adventure celebrating both creativity and conservation.
From Palaces to Power Stations
The enormous eggs — each standing at 2ft (0.6m) tall — will be dotted around a range of well-known locations, creating a vibrant trail that stretches from Battersea Power Station and Covent Garden to Buckingham Palace and the Saatchi Gallery. Other notable stops include Chelsea, Marylebone, Marble Arch, Canary Wharf, and the Barbican.
A Fusion of Art, Fashion and Food
Each egg has been uniquely designed by a contributor from the worlds of art, fashion, or food — showcasing a variety of styles and stories. The exhibition is a collaboration between wildlife conservation charity Elephant Family and luxury egg producer Clarence Court.
“This is a vibrant celebration of art and conservation which can be enjoyed by everyone,” said a spokesperson for Elephant Family.
Interactive Egg-Spotting Adventure
The egg hunt officially opens to the public on 24 March 2025. Participants will be able to use a free mobile app to track their progress, locate the sculptures, and “collect” each egg virtually.
Prizes and Surprises
The app is set to offer prizes along the way, turning the experience into a playful competition. The more eggs users find and tick off, the more chances they’ll have to unlock special rewards.
Supporting Wildlife Conservation
Once the trail comes to a close, all of the egg sculptures will be auctioned, with proceeds going directly to support Elephant Family’s conservation work. The charity, founded by Mark Shand, the late brother of Queen Camilla, focuses on protecting endangered Asian wildlife and their habitats.
- The exhibition combines large-scale public art with environmental advocacy.
- Funds raised will contribute to projects aiding Asian elephants and other vulnerable species.
- It follows in the footsteps of Elephant Family’s previous city-wide art trails, including the well-received Elephant Parade.
With its blend of creativity, community engagement and conservation, the Big Egg Hunt 2025 is shaping up to be one of London’s most egg-citing public events of the year — a celebration of imagination with a powerful purpose.
